The King Edward VI Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy is undergoing a significant redevelopment project to create a new, zero-carbon campus.

This ambitious project includes demolishing existing buildings, constructing a new three-story teaching block, and a new sports block, all while maintaining the school’s operations throughout the construction.

TQ Refrigeration was approached to work alongside the main contractor to carry out the installation and commissioning of chilled and frozen food cold rooms located in the school’s dining hall kitchen. A dual compartment room was installed within the new kitchen area, complete with nylon-coated shelving. The cooling capacity for the cold rooms was provided by housed hermetic condensing units coupled to Kelvion evaporators.

TQ Refrigeration’s expertise ensured the cold rooms were installed efficiently and effectively, supporting the school’s dining hall operations during this transformative redevelopment.
